How to zoom into a video in Chrome

Updated May 4, 20263 min read

Sometimes a part of the frame is too small to see clearly, or you want to crop out distracting edges. A zoom extension lets you do that without any video editing software.

  1. 1
    Step 1

Zoom in on a specific area of the video

Glitch adds a zoom slider to the toolbar so you can enlarge the video beyond the player boundaries in real time while the video is playing.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Pan to reframe after zooming

After zooming in, drag the frame to center the part of the image you want to focus on.

  3. 3
    Step 3

Rotate if the video was recorded sideways

Occasionally a video is uploaded in the wrong orientation. Glitch's rotation control lets you correct it without downloading and re-encoding.

  4. 4
    Step 4

    Use cinematic letterbox mode

If you prefer a 2.39:1 wide letterbox look, Glitch's letterbox mode applies the cinematic crop to any video.

  5. 5
    Step 5

Combine zoom with filters for a custom look

Zooming in and applying a color grade simultaneously is a quick way to create a focused, stylized view of any content.

  6. 6
    Step 6

Reset to original with one click

All zoom, pan, and rotation changes have a one-click reset so you can get back to the default view instantly.

  • Does zooming in reduce video quality?

Zooming in enlarges the existing pixels, so at high zoom levels the image will appear softer. The original video quality is not changed.

Yes. Rotation and zoom work on any site where Glitch is active.

  • Is zoom free or Pro?

Zoom and rotation are free features.
