How to use AB loop for language learning in Chrome

Updated May 4, 20264 min read

Looping a single sentence over and over until you understand every word is one of the most effective language learning techniques. Here is how to do it efficiently in Chrome.

  1. 1
    Step 1

Find a sentence or line you want to practice

Play the video until you reach the phrase or dialogue line you want to focus on.

  2. 2
    Step 2

Set the A point just before the line starts

Press the A key (or your configured AB-start shortcut) a moment before the target line begins.

  3. 3
    Step 3

Set the B point just after the line ends

Press B immediately after the line finishes. The video will now loop that segment continuously.

  4. 4
    Step 4

Drop the speed to 0.5× or 0.75× for difficult phrases

Slow the speed down while keeping pitch correct so you can hear every sound clearly. Pitch lock is on by default in Glitch.

  5. 5
    Step 5

Repeat until you can hear and reproduce it clearly

With the segment looping at reduced speed, shadow the speaker out loud. Increase the speed gradually as you become comfortable.

  6. 6
    Step 6

Move the markers and loop the next line

Clear the AB markers with a shortcut, find the next target line, and repeat. Progress one sentence at a time.
